Bhubaneswar, Aug. 13 -- Heavy rainfall in the upper catchment areas of Similipal resulted in a rise of the the Budhabalanga river in Odisha's Mayurbhanj district. The river is currently carrying a high volume of floodwater.

The situation disrupted communication in Bangriposi, where floodwater rose over the bridge at Kaliami. With water flowing across the bridge, movement through the route came to a halt.

Due to the strong flow of water, police personnel were deployed at the spot. They prevented people from crossing the bridge as a precautionary measure.

The flooding at the Kaliami bridge raised the possibility of floodwater entering low-lying areas of Baripada city.
