BJD to join INDIA Bloc's Delhi march over SIR, voter roll deletions
India, Oct. 6 -- The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) will join the INDIA bloc's protest march in Delhi on Tuesday against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and alleged deletion of voters' names.
On the direction of BJD president Naveen Patnaik, the party's Rajya Sabha MPs will participate in the opposition parties' march. The move has drawn attention as the BJD has maintained equidistance from both the INDIA bloc and the NDA.
According to reports in the national media, BJD Rajya Sabha parliamentary party leader Manas Mangaraj said Naveen Patnaik had earlier demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over his alleged controversial role in the SIR exercise.
