Bhubaneswar, March 31 -- In a tragic incident, a college student lost his life after drowning in the Kuakhai River near the Balakati siphon area on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.

According to reports, the deceased was a student of BJB College. He had gone to the river along with six of his friends for a bath when the mishap occurred. While bathing, the student reportedly slipped into deeper waters and was unable to stay afloat, leading to his drowning.

On being alerted, local authorities and rescue teams rushed to the spot and launched a search operation. After nearly two hours of intensive efforts, the body of the student was recovered from the river.
