Bhubaneswar, June 16 -- A birthday celebration turned tragic after two youths were killed in a road accident near Saranda under Attabira police limits in Odisha's Bargarh district late Monday night. The deceased have been identified as Gopabandhu Parida and Soumyaranjan Khamari of Sambalpur district.

According to sources, the duo were travelling on a motorcycle to wish a relative on his birthday near Rengali Camp. After the celebration, they were returning to Sambalpur when their motorcycle rammed into the rear of a truck near Saranda Chhak.

The victims' families have alleged that illegally parked heavy vehicles along the roadside contributed to the accident.
