Bhubaneswar, Aug. 26 -- Biometric attendance will be introduced in higher educational institutions across Odisha through the Higher Education Information Management System (HIMS). The system will be used to record and verify student attendance digitally.

The pilot project will begin from August 25 in 10 higher educational institutions. The move is linked to the attendance requirement under the 'Gyanodaya-Shiksharu Samruddhi' scheme, under which beneficiary students need to maintain at least 75% attendance.

The system will cover student registration, biometric data recording and attendance tracking. Attendance data will also be integrated with HIMS.

Colleges covered under the system will need to have geo-tagging enabled. For attendance ...
