Bhubaneswar, June 29 -- A shocking hit-and-run incident was reported in Bhubaneswar, Odisha on Sunday evening after a truck allegedly hit a scooter and dragged it for nearly a kilometre near the Jharpada overbridge, leaving the rider critically injured.

The injured rider was rescued and rushed to Capital Hospital, where he is undergoing treatment.

Eyewitnesses said the scooter remained trapped under the truck for nearly a kilometre and caught fire as it was being dragged.

One witness said, "The scooty was dragged for around one kilometre. It was on fire the entire time. It looked like the driver was drunk. He kept driving and stopped only after seeing the crowd."
