Bhubaneswar, Aug. 13 -- Cuttack Rural Police arrested five of the six accused in the alleged gangrape case of a young woman from Bhubaneswar who was on her way to Kendrapara with her male friend. Rural SP Vineet Agrawal announced the arrests at a press conference on Thursday and said efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining accused, who is still on the run.

According to police sources, the 'rape survivor' along with her 'male friend' was travelling in a car towards Kendrapara when a group of youths allegedly intercepted them in the Nischintakoili area. The accused brutally beat up her friend before allegedly taking turns on her.
