Bhubaneswar, Oct. 3 -- BhubaneswarCommissionerate Police arrested a woman and a man on Friday for allegedly cheating a mining businessman of Rs 60 lakh by using a false identity and posing as an engineer.

Police identified the accused as 30-year-old Dinesh Ranjan Dash and 30-year-old Sasmita Samal. As per reports, both were living in an apartment in Sundarpada and were arrested from the same area. The complainant has been identified as a mining businessman named Jitendra Nath Patnaik.

According to police, Sasmita got introduced to the mining businessman Jitendra Nath Patnaik in 2024. She allegedly introduced herself as 'Priyanka Pradhan' and claimed to be a civil engineer before securing a job at Jitendra's office.
