Bhadrak rain alert: Salandi, Baitarani rivers' water levels rise, several panchayats affected
Bhubaneswar, Aug. 9 -- Water levels in the Salandi and Baitarani rivers are rising in Bhadrak following rainfall. This has raised concern in riverbank areas.
As per reports, both rivers were still flowing below their respective danger marks at the time of reporting.
At 6 am, the danger mark of the Salandi River at Rajghat was 17 feet. The river was flowing at 16 feet at the time of filing this report.
The rising Salandi water level has affected several panchayats in Bhadrak, Tihidi and Chandbali blocks. Thousands of hectares of agricultural land still remain inundated.
At the Akhuapada Anicut, the danger mark of the Baitarani River is 18.33 metres. The river was flowing at 18.07 metres at the time of reporting.
