Bhubaneswar, Aug. 5 -- While the level of floodwaters has dropped in several parts of Odisha, several villages remain marooned, including in Bhadrak district's Basudevpur area.

Several families in Basudevpur are reportedly still stranded and cut off from the outside world. The suffering of the flood-affected continues to increase each passing day. Many residents are still living marooned by floodwaters.

With knee-level water still standing inside their homes, people are unable to cook. As a result, people are surviving on dry food.
