Bhubaneswar, Sept. 21 -- Odisha Crime Branch stepped up its investigation into the death of MV Constable Ashutosh Mrudangia, with a four-member team reaching Berhampur and recording the statements of five members of his family. The team questioned Ashutosh's father, mother, two sisters and grandmother late on Sunday night.

The investigation was taken over by the Crime Branch following a High Court direction. Ashutosh's family had approached the court after no arrest was made based on allegations that his wife and brother-in-law were responsible for setting him on fire.

Ashutosh was rescued in a partially burnt condition from the police quarters at Bijipur on June 5. He was initially treated at MKCG and later shifted to AIIMS Bhubaneswar...
