Bhubaneswar, April 25 -- New theories surfaced in the abduction and murder case of Berhampur-based businessman Sudhir Patra. Allegations now point towards a possible motive linked to opposition over an inter-caste relationship involving his niece.

According to the father and mother of the deceased, the murder may not have been driven by the alleged Rs 2 crore ransom demand or a broader family dispute. 

They claimed that the issue stemmed from Sudhir's opposition to his niece Nibedita Patra's decision to marry her lover, Kalu Pradhan. The family further clarified that the matter was not related to any superstition or witchcraft. They alleged that the dispute led Nibedita to conspire to eliminate him.
