Bhubaneswar, April 19 -- Police have intensified their investigation into the abduction of a local businessman, deploying seven special teams across multiple states to trace the victim, officials said.

The victim, identified as Sudhir Patra of Karapalli village in Ganjam district, was allegedly kidnapped on the night of April 15 at around 8 pm. According to reports, Patra was returning home after playing volleyball when he was intercepted by a group of miscreants. The assailants reportedly assaulted him and forced him into a vehicle at gunpoint.
