Bhubaneswar, Sept. 27 -- Banks across the country will remain open on Sunday to ensure that customers have access to banking services ahead of a three-day strike scheduled for next week.

The decision to keep banks open was taken in view of the proposed strike and the holidays that follow. The move is expected to provide some relief to customers and traders who were concerned about a prolonged disruption in banking services.

The United Forum of Bank Unions has called for a three-day strike from September 28 to 30 over a four-point charter of demands, including the demand for two days of holidays every week.
