Bhubaneswar, July 1 -- The Odisha government has initiated the process for a departmental inquiry against suspended IPS officer Dayal Gangwar, who has been at the centre of controversy in connection with the GRP constable Soumyaranjan murder case.

The Home Department has written to the Director General of Police (DGP), asking for the necessary documents to initiate disciplinary proceedings against the officer.

According to a government order issued on June 18, Gangwar was placed under suspension under the All India Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1969.
