Bhubaneswar, May 26 -- OdishaCrime Branch on Tuesday arrested the alleged prime accused in the murder case of GRP constable Soumya Ranjan Swain at Balianta, taking the total number of arrests in the case to 16.

The accused, identified as Binod Behera, was apprehended from Indupur in Kendrapara district. He is reportedly a resident of the Satyanagar area of Bhubaneswar.

Earlier, 15 accused persons were arrested and forwarded to court in connection with the case. With the latest arrest, the number of arrests has increased to 16.

The Crime Branch intensified its investigation into the case and earlier carried out detailed inquiries at both the police station and the crime scene.
