Bhubaneswar, June 3 -- The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) on Wednesday intensified its probe into the alleged Balianta mob violence case by recording the statements of the complainant woman and the ambulance driver who had reportedly returned from the spot without transporting the injured victims.

The woman who had lodged the initial complaint and the ambulance driver appeared before the NHRC team after being served notices by the Commission. Their testimonies are expected to play a crucial role in the ongoing inquiry into the incident that resulted in the death of GRP constable Soumya Ranjan Swain.
