Bhubaneswar, May 25 -- A shocking incident unfolded in Ambika Nagar in Berhampur when a youth identified as Jaga Sahu was allegedly attacked with a sharp weapon. The attack, reportedly captured on video, went viral within five hours, triggering widespread outrage across social media, officials said on Monday.

Acting swiftly, the police launched a pursuit operation against the accused. During an attempted encounter, when the accused reportedly tried to escape and allegedly tried to hurl a bomb, the police opened fire.

Jaga Sahu was shot in both legs in the exchange of gunfire. He has been admitted to MKCG Medical College in a serious condition for treatment.
