Bhubaneswar, June 14 -- Police arrested two individuals for allegedly hurling stones at the Daspalla Block Development Officer (BDO), Sarat Kumar Mallik, in Nayagarh district, officials said on Sunday.

The incident occurred on Friday afternoon near Nachhipur village while the state official was returning to his office after completing field-level S.I.R work.

According to the police, the attack was motivated by grievances over the cancellation of a ration card, and an investigation is currently underway to ascertain all facts related to the case.
