Bhubaneswar, June 27 -- A youth was allegedly murdered in a gruesome manner by unidentified assailants in Odisha's Boudh district, police said on Saturday.

The deceased has been identified as Kapil Nayak, a resident of Rishibandh village under Manamunda police limits in the district.

According to preliminary information, Nayak had reportedly engaged in a heated argument with a group of youths at a fast-food stall near the Mahuli-Digi road junction late on Friday night.

The altercation took a violent turn when the miscreants allegedly attacked Nayak with a wooden plank and later slit his throat using a broken beer bottle.

The assailants then allegedly smashed his head with a stone, killing him on the spot, sources added.
