Bhubaneswar, March 17 -- The Odisha Vigilance on Sunday apprehended a junior clerk-cum-accountant of the Block Education Office in Barpali while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 6,000 to process an employee's arrears.
The accused has been identified as Rajani Kanta Kar, posted at the office of the Block Education Officer (BEO), Barpali in Bargarh district.
According to Vigilance officials, Kar had been demanding a bribe from an employee of the same office to prepare the bill required to draw his pending arrears of salary. Despite repeated requests by the employee, the accused allegedly did not take any action and instead insisted on payment of Rs 6,000.
