Angul tusker's 36-hour road journey raises questions over wildlife handling
Bhubaneswar, June 5 -- Concerns are growing over the condition of a tusker from Odisha's Angul district that has reportedly remained tied inside a transport truck for more than 36 hours amid delays in its relocation.
The elephant has been moved across multiple forest ranges as authorities continue efforts to identify a suitable location for its rehabilitation.
The Forest Department had initially planned to release the tusker in the Satkosia Range under Karanjia. However, the plan could not be executed following opposition from local residents. The elephant is now set to be shifted to the Kanchinda Wildlife Rescue Centre in Bangiriposi, according to available information.
