Angul gold robbery: Two accused shot in police encounter, four arrested
Bhubaneswar, June 18 -- Angul police cracked the robbery at Sri Balaji Gold Refinery in Talcher, Odisha within hours of the crime, arresting four accused and recovering almost the entire stolen property. Two of the accused sustained bullet injuries during an encounter near Handapa forest after allegedly opening fire on the police team while trying to escape.
The robbery took place at around 6.10 pm on Tuesday when four men arrived at the refinery in a white Hyundai Verna car. Posing as police and Income Tax officials, they allegedly entered the refinery, inspected the premises and looted around 230 grams of gold, 60 grams of gold ornaments and 700 grams of silver ornaments.
