Bhubaneswar, Sept. 3 -- As social media is filled with visuals of Gen Z hitting the streets over potholes and poor roads in various parts of the state, women members of self-help groups (SHGs) on Thursday blocked National Highway-143 near the Birsa Munda Bus Stand in Biramitrapur in Odisha's Sundargarh.

They staged a protest demanding immediate repairs of around 100 potholes on the NH that leads from the Odisha-Jharkhand border to Talsara. The 5-kilometer stretch has deteriorated badly with more than a hundred large potholes.

Rainwater accumulating on the road has further increased the risk of accidents, while traffic jams lasting for hours have also become frequent.
