Bhubaneswar, Sept. 29 -- After the Biju Janata Dal (BJD), the Congress is set to intensify its agitation against the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Act, 2026, with a protest planned in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday. The issue has already triggered repeated disruptions in the Odisha Assembly, where both opposition parties have been demanding withdrawal of the amended law.

Congress MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati said the party would continue its fight over what it sees as issues concerning Odisha's rights and mineral resources.

"Twenty MPs from Odisha have gone to Parliament, but they did not raise their voice on this issue. Congress will protest against this. We will fight for the rights of the state," Bahinipati said.
