Bhubaneswar, May 23 -- A nine-year-old boy was admitted to hospital after reportedly trying to fight off a group of dogs that surrounded him while he was playing outside his home in Mahanala village under Patapur police station limits in Ganjam district on Friday.

The child, identified as Arish Kumar, sustained serious injuries during the incident, which occurred in the courtyard of his residence. '

According to family members, more than five dogs reportedly surrounded the boy while he was playing, following which he attempted to fend them off.

The incident resulted in injuries to the minor, including a scalp injury. Family members and local residents rushed him for medical treatment immediately after the incident.
