Bhubaneswar, Sept. 26 -- A 70-foot breach in the Kani River embankment inundated several villages in Odisha's Jajpur following incessant rainfall on Saturday. The affected areas include parts of Jajpur and Dasarathpur blocks, where several villages are now surrounded by floodwater.

More than 10 villages under Kasapa, Tarapada and Malikapur panchayats have been affected by the flooding. Several residents have taken shelter on the embankment along with their children after water entered the villages.

The breach in the Kani river embankment occurred amid continuous rainfall, allowing floodwater to enter nearby villages. The situation has left several families facing difficulties as water surrounds their settlements.
