Bhubaneswar, June 30 -- Six persons were arrested for allegedly preparing to hunt wild boars using explosive materials in Odisha's Ganjam district, with police suspecting the involvement of an interstate wildlife poaching network, official sources said on Tuesday.

The arrests were made by K. Nuagaon Police following inputs about suspicious movement near the hills of Kutling village under K. Nuagaon police limits.

According to police, local villagers noticed a group of unidentified persons roaming in the area and alerted others. As the suspects were unable to communicate in Odia, villagers initially suspected them of being thieves, detained them and informed the police.
