Bhubaneswar, June 17 -- A five-year-old boy from Bahabalpur village under Salepur block died at Cuttack's Sishu Bhawan on Tuesday night after battling for life for nearly three weeks. The child was undergoing treatment since May 23 following an alleged poisoning incident that occurred on May 22.

The boy was initially admitted to Salepur hospital after falling seriously ill and was later shifted to Sishu Bhawan in a critical condition. Family members alleged that he was given poison-laced sweets and a cold drink by neighbours. They have already lodged a complaint against five persons at the Salepur police station.
