Bhubaneswar, March 14 -- At least 34 people were arrested on Saturday, a day after a violent clash broke out between protesters and police during a road blockade in the Bahalda area of Odisha's Mayurbhanj district. Among those arrested, seven are men while the remaining are women, police said.

According to reports, the incident occurred on Friday when a group of locals staged a road blockade demanding the immediate arrest of an accused in a case involving alleged misconduct with a minor girl. The protesters also demanded that the accused be brought to the spot so that the community could deliver what they described as 'public justice'.
