Bhubaneswar, April 13 -- Three Danda Nacha dancers died and five others sustained critical injuries after coming in contact with an electric current while setting up a tent in Odisha's Dhenkanal district on Sunday.

The incident took place at Patal village under Balimi police station limits in the Hindol area.

According to reports, the mishap occurred when a steel bar used for erecting the tent came into contact with an 11 kV electric line. The sudden electric shock left five danduas critically injured.

They were immediately shifted to the Angul District Headquarters Hospital for treatment.

Doctors later declared Milan Mahalik and Laxmidhar Sahu of Bido village, and Sudhakar Sahu of Patala village, dead.
