Bhubaneswar, March 23 -- In a tragic incident, two workers lost their lives while unloading fish on Monday from a boat at Balaramgadi jetty under Marine police limits in Balasore district. The incident occurred when both men suddenly fell ill during the process.
According to sources, the fatal mishap took place inside a chamber of the jetty where fish are stored. It is suspected that toxic gas, used to preserve fish freshness, leaked inside the enclosed space, leading to suffocation.
The victims were rescued and immediately rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in Balasore, where doctors declared them 'dead'.
