Bhubaneswar, Aug. 16 -- A 10-foot-long python was rescued after it got trapped in a fishing net at Pathapur in Banki in Odisha's Cuttack on Sunday.

Upon receiving the information, the Forest Department team reached the spot and rescued the python.

According to reports, some locals went fishing in the morning and spotted the python trapped in a fishing net. They immediately informed the authorities, following which the reptile was rescued.

It was later released safely into the Banki-Dampada forest.

The rescue comes amid the prevailing flood situation in the area. Locals were frightened on seeing the huge reptile.
