Bhubaneswar, Sept. 9 -- Beneficiaries from nine panchayats under Kaptipada block in Odisha's Mayurbhanj took to the streets on Wednesday over alleged irregularities in the disbursement of allowance money. The protesters blocked the road at Sarat Chhak which disrupted communication between Kaptipada and Keonjhar.

The beneficiaries alleged that despite the government announcing an increase in the allowance, they did not receive the increased amount. They also alleged that in some cases, Sarpanches retained part of the allowance and provided beneficiaries with only Rs 1,000.
