'Desi jugaad' amid LPG crisis: Odisha youth builds low-cost stove using burnt engine oil
Bhubaneswar, May 28 -- A young mason from Odisha's Subarnapur district came into the spotlight on Thursday after developing a desi jugaad, a unique low-cost cooking stove that runs on burnt engine oil instead of LPG. The innovation, created using scrap materials and self-learning through YouTube videos, is now attracting widespread attention in the region.
Arun Jhankar, a resident of Saulpur village under Binika town in the district, has designed the stove using discarded household and metal items collected from a scrap shop. Despite having studied only up to Class 4, Arun used his practical skills and creativity to build what he calls a "jet stove."
