Bhubaneswar, April 22 -- The Odisha government invited suggestions on Wednesday from people's representatives and citizens regarding proposed changes to the English spellings of various place names across the State. The move aims to bring the official spellings closer to their original Odia pronunciation.
The initiative follows the recommendations made by a committee headed by noted author Pratibha Ray. Based on the Committee's proposals, the government has sought feedback within a month, encouraging people to share their opinions and suggestions before finalising the changes.
