Guwahati: The Gauhati High Court on Friday adjourned the hearing on the bail plea filed by Shyamkanu Mahanta in connection with the Zubeen Garg death case and fixed May 25 as the next date of hearing.

During the proceedings, senior advocate Pran Bora, appearing for Mahanta, argued in support of the bail application before the court.

The state government, represented by Advocate General Devajit Lon Saikia, sought additional time to place its response before the court.

Following the submissions from both sides, the court adjourned the matter till Monday, when the government is expected to present its arguments opposing the bail plea.

The case pertains to the death case involving singer Zubeen Garg.
