Tripura: Three convicted in drug trafficking, child abuse and murder case

Agartala: Three individuals, including a woman, have been convicted in separate cases involving drug trafficking, child sexual abuse and murder by courts in Tripura. The courts handed down sentences ranging from 10 years of rigorous imprisonment to life imprisonment, police said.
In the first case, the Special Judge's Court in Dharmanagar, North Tripura district, convicted Sijarul SK, a resident of Murshidabad in West Bengal, under Section 20(B)(ii)(C) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. He was sentenced to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment and fined Rs 1 lakh. Failure to pay the fine will result in an additional two years of rigorous imprisonment.
