Guwahati, May 4 -- BJP candidate Jahar Chakraborti emerged as the clear winner in the Dharmanagar Assembly bypoll, leading by a massive margin of 18,290 votes after all four rounds of counting were completed.
He received a total of 24,291 votes, comfortably outpacing his nearest rivals. CPI(M) nominee Amitabha Datta garnered 6,001 votes, while Congress candidate Chayan Bhattacharya secured 5,936 votes.
Candidates from smaller parties such as Amra Bangalee and SUCI(C), along with independent contenders, remained far behind in the race. Meanwhile, NOTA accounted for 444 votes.
