Agartala, July 2 -- Assam Rifles and the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) jointly recovered 55,626 bottles of codeine-based cough syrup valued at about Rs 1.27 crore from Agartala Railway Station, officials said on Thursday.

The recovery was made during a joint operation launched on the basis of specific intelligence inputs regarding the suspected movement of a consignment through the railway network, they said.

According to officials, the security personnel intercepted the suspected consignment at the railway station and conducted a search, during which the bottles of codeine-based cough syrup were recovered. The consignment was allegedly meant for illegal transportation.
