Agartala, June 28 -- Assam Rifles, in a joint operation with the Customs Department, seized around 50,000 Yaba tablets valued at approximately Rs 5 crore from a vehicle in Tripura's Mungiakami area, officials said on Saturday.

Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the joint team intercepted a Mahindra XUV500 bearing registration number AS-01MB-5768 in the Mungiakami area, they said.

According to officials, the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled into a densely populated civilian area after noticing the security personnel.

A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the recovery of around 50,000 Yaba tablets with an estimated market value of Rs 5 crore, officials said.
