Imphal, Oct. 24 -- The Thadou Students' Association has criticised the Manipur government for failing to control inter-community violence, protect civilians and maintain law and order.

In a press statement, the association said government condemnations and financial compensation had failed to restore public trust. It also questioned whether the government remained in control of the state or whether armed groups had gained authority.

The association raised concerns over the immunity it believes armed groups enjoy under the Suspension of Operations (SoO) agreement. It demanded immediate legal action against Kuki National Front-Presidential leader Jangboi Kipgen, accusing him of operating several militant networks in Kangpokpi district.
