Guwahati, April 16 -- A 28-year-old labourer from Assam's Dhemaji district died after being struck by a reversing concrete mixer at the Teesta Stage III Hydro Electric Project site in Chungthang, Sikkim, in the early hours of Thursday.
The deceased, identified as Bikuram Kuli, had just completed a 12-hour night shift at the 1,200 MW hydroelectric project in Mangan district when the incident occurred around 4:55 am.
According to police, Kuli was standing behind a transit mixer as it reversed to unload materials at the coffer dam construction area. The vehicle, which had arrived from a crusher plant, hit him during the manoeuvre, leaving him critically injured.
