Aizawl: Mizoram's opposition Congress party on Friday expressed serious concern over the growing number of daily-wage labourers in the state, warning that the trend could trigger deep-rooted social inequality and division if left unchecked.

Speaking at a political session held at the Congress Bhavan here, Mizoram Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) General Secretary Lalbiakzama said the issue of landlessness among workers requires urgent attention and long-term policy solutions.

"We now have quite a number of landless daily-wage labourers in Mizoram. In the long run, this will lead to severe discrimination and social inequality in our society. We need to start thinking about a solution right now," he sa...
