Dibrugarh, July 31 -- Restoration of railway tracks damaged by the recent floods has begun in Assam's Tinsukia Railway Division, with officials estimating that train services on the affected route may resume in about three weeks.

Railway infrastructure in parts of Sivasagar and Charaideo districts suffered extensive damage after floods triggered by the overflowing Dikhow and Darika rivers washed away sections of track earlier this month.

An official said restoration work is being carried out under the supervision of senior railway authorities.
