NEC sanctions Rs 13.58 crore for Meghalaya healthcare, education and infrastructure projects
Guwahati, July 15 -- Several sectors in Meghalaya are set to receive fresh financial support from the North Eastern Council (NEC), which approved fund releases of more than Rs 13.58 crore during May and June 2026 for healthcare, education, energy, cultural initiatives and infrastructure-related works.
The funding will facilitate the installation of a 1.5 Tesla MRI machine at Tura Civil Hospital, expanding advanced diagnostic facilities for patients in the Garo Hills region.
Assistance has also been approved for upgrading facilities at Shillong Polytechnic and setting up a multidisciplinary training-cum-resource centre through NERCORMS to promote technical skills and research.
