India, March 28 -- Nagaland's lone Lok Sabha MP, S Supongmeren Jamir has urged the Centre to consider upgrading Kohima Medical College into a premier institution on the lines of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences or the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences.
In a statement, Jamir highlighted the significance of Kohima Medical College as the first medical college in Nagaland, describing it as a milestone in the state's efforts to strengthen healthcare infrastructure.
The college began functioning in September 2023 with an intake capacity of 100 students.
