Guwahati, April 24 -- The Naga Students' Federation (NSF) has approached the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) with a memorandum expressing concern over reported violations of rights affecting the Naga community, along with a rise in violent incidents in areas inhabited by Naga people.
The document refers to the April 18 attack in TM-Kasom village along National Highway-202 in Manipur's Ukhrul district, where two Naga civilians were killed in an ambush.
The NSF said the incident points to an ongoing situation of insecurity in the region, and referred to several reported cases of assaults, destruction of property, and intimidation in Naga areas in recent years.
