Dimapur, Aug. 3 -- The Kohima district administration on Monday ordered the temporary closure of a section of National Highway-2 (Kohima-Mao section) passing through the Phesama sinking area for 10 hours, from 8 am to 6 pm on Tuesday, to facilitate restoration work and ensure public safety.

Kohima District Magistrate B. Henok Buchem issued the order following a communication from the National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL), PMU Jakhama, which reported intermittent falling of boulders from the adjoining hill slopes along the affected stretch between Chainage km 191+840 and km 192+100.
