Guwahati, May 2 -- The Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Nagaland State Branch, is preparing to observe World Red Cross Day on May 8 with a large-scale public outreach programme titled "Walk for Humanity," in line with this year's global theme, "United for Humanity."

The day commemorates the 198th birth anniversary of Jean Henri Dunant, the founder of the International Committee of the Red Cross and the first Nobel Peace Prize laureate.

World Red Cross Day is marked globally to honour Dunant's vision and to recognise the dedicated humanitarian efforts of Red Cross volunteers who work tirelessly during conflicts, natural disasters, and emergencies.
